This stretch is controlled by the Ouse Preservation & Angling Society but CDAS members have access through a water sharing agreement.

You’ll be sharing with a herd of Friesian's so watch your kit and no sandals.

Apart from the main river there’s also the weir pools and Andrews stream plus the river above the weirs

I gave this a bash on the second day of the season (2002) sitting part way down the section in the middle picture. A hot fine day, if only the Angler’s Rest  was still open. I caught a mixed bag of bream and roach with an odd perch and an eel. Most spectacular was a 10lb pike which grabbed a roach on it’s way in.

I also saw a couple of large fish jump during the day indicating there’s Sea Trout about. Although the guys walking about spinning for them never seem to get one.

Location of Barcombe Mills

For those interested Barcombe also has a SE Water reservoir which has good Rainbow trout fishing at a reasonable price.
